About & Submission Policy

Fen17 is an open web directory built on the model of a newsroom filing system. Instead of ranking pages algorithmically, we sort the web into beats: subject desks that cover a specific industry, service, or topic area. Each desk holds verified listings — sites that were accessed and confirmed live before being added to the index. The directory carries 826 listings across 22 desks, ranging from specialist trade areas like the Construction & Building Beat and the Records & Notary Desk to high-volume sections like the Digital & Online Bureau and the Gaming & Casino Wire. Submission is straightforward. Any site owner can use the Add a Site form to file a listing request. Once received, we review the submission, confirm the site is accessible, and assign it to the most relevant desk. The process is free and does not require registration. Fen17 is not a search engine and does not rank sites by authority or popularity. It is a catalogued reference directory — a curated list of what is on the web, organised by subject, for readers who prefer to browse by category rather than query a search box. The directory is maintained on a rolling basis. Listings are periodically rechecked and inactive sites are removed from the index. If you notice a broken listing or want to update your site details, use the contact section on the submission page.
